Boarding a plane for a long, boring flight hardly elicit concern – except perhaps the usual "hope the plane does not crash" worries. For the most people, flight delays, long lines at airports, and perhaps a sub par hotel at the end of their flight are some of the things that they draw their concern – and ire.
When considering what to wear for their flight, most people would think about comfort. Naturally. Their in for a long flight after all. Hardly anyone thinks about what kind of clothes are the safest to wear on a plane, but it’s something you must consider.
Safest clothes to wear on a plane
In the event of a flight emergency and you survive toxic smoke inhalation and being overcome by the heat – let’s say it’s your lucky day – short of wearing flying suits, coverall, gloves, boots socks and helmets, what are the safest clothes to wear on a flight?
Wear:

Well-fitting clothes that cover much of your skin.

Layers. More layers mean more protection from heat and fire.

Light colored clothes made of tight knit or closely woven wool or wool-cotton mix materials.

Avoid wearing clothes made fuzzy fabrics, nylons, and synthetic materials.
As for shoes, opt for:

a well-fitting leather pair.

Avoid open toed-shoes, high heels, sandals and thongs.
In case of an emergency evacuation, you would want to be sure-footed at all times. High-heels can get easily caught in jams in the wreckage, and other kinds of footwear can easily come off and leave your feet unprotected, as well as keep you from being agile.
